Azavea Welcomes Kathryn Killebrew and Eugene Cheipesh, Software Developers

Kathryn Killebrew joins Azavea as a software developer on the Justice and Election Services team. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English. Kathryn has been developing software, building websites, and designing databases for over six years.  Projects she completed before joining Azavea include a website for matching donors to children to sponsor for a holiday gift-giving drive at a nonprofit; tools to support predictive modeling and analysis of vehicle fleets; and a call center logging application.  She has worked as a data analyst at Clockwork Solutions in Austin, Texas, run her own consulting business, and served as an AmeriCorps VISTA developing software for the Center for Family Services in Camden, New Jersey.

Kathryn’s personal interests include tinkering with electronics, cycling over dirt or pavement, exploring Philadelphia, and volunteering with Code for Philly.

Eugene Cheipesh joins Azavea as a software developer on the GeoTrellis team. He graduated from Temple University with dual B.Sc./B.B.A in Computer Science and Finance. Before joining Azavea he worked in the financial software industry developing models and tools for analysis and accounting of derivative securities. He is also passionate about exploring his interests in machine learning, functional programming, and parallel computing.

When away from his computer you can find Eugene on a fencing piste, improving his technique and tactics, searching for Zen on the archery range or finding thrills on a mountain bike.
